Benjamin Locke is the Director of Business Development at Metabolix. He is responsible for developing and executing plans for developing strategic arrangements with industry and Government for commercializing profitable new technologies. He has over 15 years experience in establishing new business ventures to both industrial and Government sectors in a broad range of technical and business disciplines.
Brenda Platt is the Co-Director of the Washington, DC-based Institute for Local Self-Reliance, a nonprofit organization. She has worked 24 years on recycling and composting issues, and is a trained composter and licensed to operate commercial composting facilities in Maryland.
BRUNO DE WILDE has more than 20 years of experience in AD of organic semi-solid and solid waste. He obtained a MSc degree in Agricultural Engineering with a specialisation in Biotechnology in 1983 at the State University of Ghent in Belgium. After that he worked 1 year at the Laboratory of Microbial Ecology of the same university. From 1985-1989 he was employed in an R&D project on rural energy through biogas production in Indonesia, based on a DRANCO pilot plant. From June 1st 1989 onwards Bruno De Wilde has been working at Organic Waste Systems in Ghent, Belgium where he is the manager of the laboratory for biodegradation, composting and digestion testing and consulting. He is the author or co-author of about 30 scientific articles. During many years, Bruno De Wilde has been actively involved in several standardisation committees such as ISO, CEN and DIN in the field of biodegradable and compostable materials.
Carol Casarino earned a BA in Chemistry at Carleton College and a PhD in Physical Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Carol began her DuPont career in the Imaging business, where she led the development and commercialization of the Cyrel® Digital Imaging System. Carol has held a variety of technical and business management roles at DuPont, and joined DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers in 2003. Carol currently has responsibility for technology strategies and product development pipelines in both Packaging and Industrial market spaces.
